A visit to a Singapore Art Festival, Singapore celebrates the arts with a smorgasbord of theater, dancer, and music performances. Organized and managed independently by the Arts House Limited, the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) brings together the best of local and international artists in the form of quality works in theatre, dance and music, and aims to inspire diverse audiences through great artistic experiences. The atmosphere was fun and exciting to discover a lot stuffs related to our SG50 days.
The overall theme for SG50 is for all Singaporeans to celebrate as one people. For 2014, the focus is to reflect on our journey and to take pride in how far we have come as a country. Hence, the SG50 calendar this year kicked off with a Pioneer Generation tribute at the Istana and there will be more tribute events to honor the special role of our pioneers across different segments of the society for the rest of 2014. For 2015, the focus will shift towards celebrating our shared values, affirming our aspirations and committing to a brighter Singapore. The calendar will comprise national and community-level programmes organised by the public, people and private sectors.
Tiger Beer
Launched in Singapore on 1 October 1932, Tiger beer was markets as the flagship brand on Malayan Breweries, now known as Asia Pacific Breweries ( APB). According to APB, the name for Tiger beer was coined by the brewery founders because they were inspired by the vigor and vitality of the tiger, and added a coconut palm tree to the logo to signify its tropical origins. While the brewing of lager beer typically requires cool temperate , Tiger beer was successfully brewed in Singapore by modifying the fermentation process. Known as " tropical laagering " , vertical tanks with conical bottoms were used to create a brew which is rich is flavors. In additional to its signature taste its distinctive packaging also helped Tiger beer set itself apart from its competition. Each bottle feature electrical blue labels on the front back and neck of the bottle and the word ' Tiger ' is embossed on the neck of the bottle. Currently Tiger beer is brewed in 11 countries and can be enjoyed in over 75, countries across the gable such as Europe, US, Latin Americans as well as the Middle East.

When I was walking around reading about the flowers out of sudden one of the flower struck me which is the Red Velvet flower which I took picture with. Those are expensive and it will grow in the cold area, This flowers mostly grow on the northern area country such as Holland, Iceland and Finland. They are naturally beautiful and stunning in color. Twitter is very helpful if you don’t have the ability to be at TED when a favorite design speaker talks, but luckily a few TED stars in the audience are tweeting the highlights for me until I can get the Tim Brown (of IDEO) video in a few months. Here are the Tweet highlights of his talk
- Tim Brown: “If we focused less on the object and more on the design thinking behind it, we’d see a bigger impact.”Designer and IDEO chief Tim brown
- Design’s too important to be left to designers
- Design is human-centric. It may integrate economics, but it begins with what's useful and enjoyable.
- Design of participatory systems will be the major theme not only for designers, but for the economy to “save the world” lets start with people and culture rather than with Tech
- Design thinking starts with asking the right questions.
- We must take a more expansive view of design, less a construct of professional “priesthood”
Rather than thinking to build, build to think” 1st Step in Design Thinking process: What is the question that we are trying to answer? (advice to any “problem” solver)Design Thinking says Design is too important to put into the hands of (just) designers. Everyone needs to participate design thinking becomes with examining opposing ideas and opposing constraints to create new solutions. Design of participatory systems, where value beyond cash, created and measured, will be theme of design and economy. Design thinking moves the design process From Consumption to participation. Instead of primary objective as consumption, explore potential of participation, where everyone actively engaged in experience design is: Learning by Making, Building in order to think and to understands culture and context before beginning to create new idea Arts became small, a profession of Aesthetics, Image, Fashion; Design Thinking makes it big/broad again thinking begins w/ integrative thinking: ability to exploit opposing ideas, constraints to create solutions.
